District's 2nd solar power plant planned in Greater Noida

The Noida and Greater Noida authorities have decided to jointly construct of a 1MW solar power plant in Gautam Budh Nagar district. Senior officials of both the authorities held a meeting in Noida recently and have decided to construct the solar plant in Greater Noida.Officials said that Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL), the power distribution company of Greater Noida, will enter into a tripartite MoU with both the authorities to purchase electricity produced at the plant. Green energy purchased by NPCL will help meet its target of procuring renewable energy.The project will be constructed at a cost of around Rs 18.5 crore, which will be borne by Noida Authority. Greater Noida Authority will provide the land required for setting up the plant. After construction, the solar plant will be handed over to NPCL for running and maintenance.Greater Noida Authority officials said that land has already been identified for the project. Rohtas administration launches drive to close stone crushing units

After the cancellation of no objection certificate by the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) the district administration has launched a campaign to remove all stone crushing units. Within the last three days, about three dozen crushing units have been removed by the administration while the same number has been removed by the owners themselves to avoid legal action.Sources said that on the third day of its campaign on Thursday, the Rohtas administration has removed about one dozen units from Gopibigha, Dawanpur and other areas of Sasaram and Dehri-on-Sone. About 11 lakh cft stone chips worth Rs 6 crore have also been seized and after proper procedure, the stone chips, mined from the forest area of Kaimur hills, would be confiscated, said DPRO Ravi Bhushan Sahay in a press release on Thursday. Jeep collides with train engine, 5 die

Five members of a wedding party of Inrawa village were killed and four other injured severely on Wednesday night when a jeep they were travelling in collided with a rail engine at an unmanned level crossing near Amodei village between Ramgarhwa and Dharminia stations in Raxaul-Sugauli section of East Central railway.According to Ramgarhwa police, the jeep got stuck to the rail engine and was dragged for 200 metres. Sugauli rail police said the accident took place at 9pm on Wednesday night when the engine was coming from Raxaul to Sugauli. School officials who tried to save rape accused denied bail

The sessions court rejected anticipatory bail pleas of three officials of a school in Narayangaon, located 90 kms from Pune, for shielding a peon who was arrested for raping three physically challenged girls in April last year.Taking a strong stand against the school authorities, additional sessions judge Vinay G Joshi said, "The offences are shocking because the victims are vulnerable handicapped girls belonging to poor strata of the society. Poor response to conveyance deed drive

It's been over four months since the state government launched a special drive to issue deemed conveyance to housing societies, but the response has been poor, plagued as the drive is with problems ranging from calculation of stamp duty to lack of awareness among flat owners about the importance of forming a society.A deemed conveyance is important as it establishes the ownership of flat owners on the land on which the society has come up. Besides, it is a mandatory document that builders need to give once the cooperative housing society is formed.After it launched its drive on December 15, 2012, to issue deemed conveyance to societies where the builders had not completed formalities of society formation, the district deputy registrar office received 300 applications from flat owners in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. Of these, 30 housing societies have been issued the conveyance deed, so far.The state has an uphill task ahead given the large number of societies that aren't registe
