Dunkin' Donuts rant: Dunkin' Donuts rant workers will get honored on the occasion of company event. Getting yelled at in a profanity laced tirade at work is something that may be very hard for someone to overcome, but sometimes it leads to better things. Today.com reported on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, that the employee who received the Dunkin Donuts racist rant will be honored at a company event in Florida.
Several Dunkin’ Donuts employees who stoically resisted a racist, profanity-laced rant were praised and will be recognized by the chain. The situation at hand stems from two employees who have been identified as Abid and Nithi. A female customer came into their Dunkin Donuts in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and ended up going on a huge rant because she claims she did not receive a receipt the previous day.
Am 8-minute video emerged this week taken by a Florida woman who was apparently mad over employees not giving her a meal over a forgotten receipt. The woman was identified as Taylor Chapman, 27, of Boward County, according to The Smoking Gun website. “Because I’m about to nuke your whole [expletive] planet from Mars,” Chapman said in the video after she saw the worker who apparently forgot the receipt.
With that being said, she was wanting a free meal. The customer used racial slurs and profanities while going off on the employees. She also used a number of derogatory terms for Arab people. The Dunkin Donuts rant incident was even recorded by the woman and said she would put it on Facebook on her own behalf.
A statement to NBCNews.com from Dunkin Donuts simply stated:
"We commend the franchisee's crew member for handling this difficult situation with grace and patience. We believe this is a powerful example of great customer service and the respect our crew members have for our guests," said the statement attributed to Michelle King, Dunkin' Brands' Director of Global Public Relations.
"The franchise owner of the restaurant has reached out to the crew member privately to express and demonstrate his personal appreciation," the statement said, without elaborating on whether the worker was rewarded.
Online petitions have been going around saying that the two employees should get much more than an "honor" at some company function, and actually deserve monetary rewards. Some petitions are even raising money for them.
On Indiegogo.com, a man from Texas recognized only as Carl said that he was "disgusted and outraged" by the treatment of the two Dunkin Donuts rant employees. He has set a target to raised $10,000 for them and so far has close to $6,500.
