One glimpse of Donna Karan’s A/W 2012 show and the BBC’s Call the Midwife Christmas special confirms that new-season hair is on a serious retro roll. For an easy take on the look, coat a centre section of your hair in Redken Quick Tease 15 (£15.15, redken.co.uk). Use the can to create your roll, wrap the section over the top, moving diagonally towards the back of the head. Pin securely at crown height and then rock your roll.

Sparkle-phobic? Then dip your tips into the more subtle shimmer trend with a graduated glitter nail.
