Two distraught women dragged weeping from Boston

Two women were today dragged weeping from the streets where police in Boston are hunting the teenage terrorist accused of planting bombs at Monday's marathon.

The women, who have not been named, were pictured in a deeply distressed state as members of the FBI surrounded the area in Cambridge, Massachussetts.

The scenes took place near the home of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who fled following a shootout with police earlier today in which his older brother Tamerlan, 26, was killed.

The women stood in a street just two miles away from the location of the controlled explosion being carried out by police to neutralise a suspicious object.

Zubeidat K. Tsarnaeva the mother of the two terror suspects, was charged with shoplifting from a Lord & Taylor store last year

Two male police officers led one of the women away from the area, and had to support her weight as she wept, while a female police officer spoke to her.

It is not clear why the police were speaking to the pair, and where they were taking them.

Residents in Cambridge have been told to remain in their homes and not to open their doors unless instructed by a police officer, as SWAT teams try to track down Chechnya-born Tsarnaev.

One million people are affected as Boston has been put in lockdown while police try to trace Tsarnaev, who they believe is linked to Monday's bombings, as well as the homicide of a police officer yesterday and a shootout early this morning.

After police today released the names Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev in an attempt to arrest Dzohkhar, it emerged their 45-year-old mother Zubeidat was last year arrested for shoplifting in Natick, Massachussetts.

Ms Tsarnaeva was charged with two counts of malicious/wanton damage and defacement to property after allegedly stealing $1,600 worth of clothes from Lord & Taylor in June 2012.

She stole $1,624 in women's clothes, according to a Patch.com story.
