Sir Alex Ferguson must keep Wayne Rooney at Manchester United, according to former Old Trafford legend Bryan Robson.
Rooney has been linked with a move to big-spending Paris St Germain this summer, with Borussia Dortmund's Robert Lewandowski rumoured to be coming in to replace him.
But an outstanding performance from midfield in the title-sealing 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Monday suggested the England international could adapt into a new role.

Robson told the Sunday Mirror: 'At the moment people are trying to put a bit of a downer on Wayne Rooney but the last thing I would do is sell him.
'He is an absolutely massive part of the club’s success. In certain games he is a top, top player. He does things that other players can’t do.
'For me, in the first 20 minutes against Villa, he won United the game. Everyone can go on about ‘Van Persie, great goals’, but Wayne’s passing and intelligence were absolutely top class.'

Rooney, 27, has been in the better form of United's frontmen since the term of the year and has 16 goals in 31 appearances for United this season.
'If I was manager and had a player like him, I’d play him anywhere,' Robson added.

'Whichever role I’m asking him to do, I know Wayne will do a great job because he’s intelligent enough to do that.'
