Never say never. I don’t want to, and I don’t plan to.”The Geordie legend movingly outs the secret lifesavers who stepped in when he fell off the wagon in January, admitting they did not want to be named. He said: “Gary Lineker, and a few who didn’t wanna be mentioned but they are gonna get mentioned – Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, Jack Wilshere, so I’m going to thank them.”Welling up, he expressed gratitude to his friends outside sport too, who chipped in for the make-or-break treatment in Arizona where doctors said they didn’t expect him to survive.“There was Alan Sugar – usually so tight he cries from one eye – there were a load of people, and Chris Evans was fantastic too he got the ball rolling.“Anything left will be handed back to others who need help.”Chatty Man’s drinks cabinet is a regular feature of his show, but all booze was removed from the London studio this week.Gazza sipped milk as he told Carr how he had begun drinking again and decided to head to rehab.

Before and after: Tooth, whole tooth and nothing but the tooth

But he hit rock bottom after treating himself to a final bender before treatment – which almost killed him.He said: “I knew I’d have to stop in 24 hours, so I thought I’d force as much down as possible.“I had a glass of wine in town and I thought I’m in trouble here I’d better go home."I woke up with two litres of gin, six bottles of wine and about eight cans, and I thought: ‘Oh no, I’m in the s***.“I just thought I’d better get out of here and get to America and detox. But that was it, I was in it and couldn’t get myself out.”He explained: “I blacked out, and I woke up in the treatment centre 16 days later. I was handcuffed to the bed.”Gazza jokes he now has an extra incentive to keep away from drink after two interviews to appear on I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here. And he said that he hopes those who have helped him would feel they had saved a “good man”.Gascoigne also showed off what looked like new gnashers – after saying he would have dental implants last year.
