PREMIER LEAGUE LIVE: Sunday's action from around the grounds as it happened

Follow Sportsmail's coverage of the Barclays Premier League as Arsenal host Manchester United to conclude the weekend's action.

Earlier in the day a draw at the Madejski Stadium meant Reading and QPR were relegated to the Championship for next season.

Kicking off at 3pm, Chelsea boosted their hopes of reaching the Champions League after they defeated Swansea 2-0, while the day's action ended at the Emirates Stadium where Arsenal, also aiming to finish in the top four, drew 1-1 with newly crowned champions Manchester United.

Send me your thoughts on the action at dan.ripley@dailymail.co.uk or via Twitter @Ripinho.

18.00: That's all from me here folks - thanks for following throughout the afternoon and enjoy the remainder of your weekend.

17.57: It ends all square then, and that means Arsenal slip to fourth following Chelsea's win over Swansea earlier today. However they do remain two points in front of north London rivals Tottenham.

United meanwhile finally got going after that very slow start but that draw means they can no longer set a Premier League points record this term.

Salute: Manchester United's Robin van Persie applauded both sets of fans after the game

17.54: Full-time: Arsenal 1-1 Manchester United

17.53: Hard to believe but in the final minute of stoppage time, there are plenty of empty red seats starting to be seen. How can you leave a football match of this magnitude now?!

17.50: There will be four added minutes. Arsenal are the more attacking team now as United remain content to play on the counter attack.

17.48: A final change for United with two minutes left as Rooney is replaced by Javier Hernandez.

Chased down: Manchester United's Antonio Valencia attempts to cross the ball

17.47: Plenty of Arsenal pressure now as Oxlade-Chamberlain's shot is deflected behind for another Arsenal set-piece.

United clear their lines and lead a counter as Rooney picks out Giggs with a superb long pass. The Welshman cuts inside but the Arsenal defence recover in time to block the midfielder's shot for a corner.

17.45: Just five minutes left and Arsenal are going for the win as Cazorla's bottom corner bound effort is well pushed behind by De Gea for an Arsenal corner.

17.42: Second switch for United as Nani is replaced by Ryan Giggs before a corner for the visitors that Arsenal clear.

In full voice: Actor, James Nesbitt was in the Manchester United crowd at the Emirates Stadium

17.40: Just proof that Dowd does believe in retrospective action as the official books Oxlade-Chamberlain for a late tackle, a good minute after the incident occurred in which he allowed advantage to be played.

17.39: Final switch from Arsenal as Ramsey makes way for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. United lead a counter shortly after, but Valencia's low cross along the box is too far in front of Van Persie. This game is so finely poised and ever so stretched.

17.37: And the Gunners are the better team now as Walcott's shot from a counter deflects behind for a corner.

Musical touch: Rapper, Jay-Z (left) and Coldplay's Chris Martin were at the Emirates Stadium

17.36: From InfostradaLive:

Arsenal have scored 18 goals in the final 15 minutes of PL matches this season, more than any other team.

17.33: Aaron Ramsey's shot for Arsenal is well blocked behind by Jones for a Gunners corner, which results in Laurent Koscielny turning over the bar from inside the box.

United make their first change as Anderson replaces Rafael - Jones will now go to right back.

17.30: Just over 20 minutes left and both sides continue to throw plenty at this - especially on the counter attack. Arsenal make a second switch as Gervinho replaces Lukas Podolski.

Confrontation: United's Jonny Evans and Arsenal's Theo Walcott go head-to-head

17.27: From InfostradaLive:

Arsenal have scored 40 goals in the second half in the PL this season, the equal-most alongside Tottenham.

17.24: This is better officiating from Dowd as after a very brief consultation with his assistant, rules that Antonio Valencia handles the ball outside the United penalty box. The midfielder is booked as Cazorla drives the set-piece across goal and wide.

17.21: First change from Arsenal as Jack Wilshere replaces Rosicky.

Reaching out: Tomas Rosicky slides to beat Phil Jones to the ball

17.19: Sagna is a very lucky boy. The Arsenal full-back lunges in with an over-zealous challenge on a United player but after advantage is played, referee Phil Dowd elects not to punish the Frenchman with a second booking.

17.16: Decent save from Szczesny as the Arsenal keeper does well to keep out Rooney's header which was diverted into the ground from Nani's cross. Arsenal look a little suspect from crosses this afternoon.

17.13: A much more even contest now. In the first half the opening 10 minutes were dominated by Arsenal but there isn't much to split the two now with both having decent spells in attack.

Time to celebrate: Manchester United fans unveil a banner at the Emirates Stadium

17.10: Now it's United turn to attack. Van Persie plays a fantastic low ball across goal but it's just too far in front of the sliding Wayne Rooney, as the ball rolls to safety.

17.07: After a slow couple of minutes, Arsenal threaten first as Rosicky fires just wide across De Gea's goal.

17.04: Away we go again at the Emirates Stadium.

Frustration: Van Persie was booked for Manchester United after a clumsy foul on Per Mertesacker

17.01: Some Van Persie based stats for you, courtesy of InfostradaLive:

Robin van Persie scores from the penalty spot. He has now scored in this fixture in the last four successive matches.

Van Persie has now scored 18 goals in his last 18 PL matches at the Emirates Stadium.

16.58: Three points for Chelsea then who could have won by a lot more this afternoon. They go up into third as it stands but we still have another 45 minutes coming up at Arsenal...

Blue is the colour: Chelsea continued their push for a Champions League spot with a win over Swansea

16.55: Full-time: Chelsea 2-0 Swansea

16.52: Arsenal started like a train but as the half drew to a close, Manchester United began to go up the gears and arguably ended as the side on top. A decent contest so far which inevitably has seen Van Persie heavily involved.

Half chance: Phil Jones heads wide of the post for United under pressure from Sagna

16.49: Half-time: Arsenal 1-1 Manchester United

16.48: Half chance for Chelsea as Ba's half-volley is well saved by Vorm following a long punt down field from Cech.

Reckless: Bacary Sagna brought Robin van Persie down inside the box before the Dutchman equalised for United

16.45: GOAL! Arsenal 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED

Madness from Sagna who gives the ball away to Robin Van Persie and then recklessly slides in on the Dutchman to concede a penalty and pick up a booking. Despite huge boos, the Dutchman converts from 12 yards before choosing not to celebrate.

16.43: PENALTY (Manchester United)

16.42: Under 10 minutes to go at Chelsea as Swansea send Neil Taylor on for Ben Davies.

Denied: Robin van Persie sees his header saved by Arsenal's Wojciech Szczesny

16.39: What an important save that is! Nani crosses for an unmarked Van Persie inside the box, but the striker's header is kept out by the face of Wojciech Szczesny - which brought huge cheers from the home fans.

The keeper now receives treatment following that wonderful chance for United.

16.37: Chelsea are getting close to wrapping up the game at Stamford Bridge as Ashley Cole's cross finds Mata, before the Spaniard fires just off target.

Off balance: John Terry attempts to control the ball for Chelsea

16.34: Swansea have made a couple of changes as Itay Shechter and Nathan Dyer replace Britton and Wayne Routledge. Ben Davies is the latest booked for the visitors, while Walcott also sees yellow for a late challenge at Arsenal.

16.31: Out-of-sorts United continue to toil, as Jonny Evans becomes the fourth man booked for tripping Walcott.

Record holder: Chelsea's all-time leading goal scorer Bobby Tambling (right) made an appearance on the Stamford Bridge pitch at half time

16.28: Huge jeers from the home fans as Van Persie is cautioned for a very clumsy tackle on Per Mertesacker. Plenty of frustration there from the United striker who is perhaps the only player from the visitors who really badly wants to win this game.

16.27: Another booking for United as Rafael sees yellow for tugging back on Arteta, the end-of-season feel has definitely hit the champions on this evidence.

16.24: 'I'm a Swansea supporter, and sadly we're losing...but, in my opinion, we were playing much, much better than Chelsea before half-time.

Since Chelsea got the first lucky goal in I think that we've just let our guard down, but I still think we may be able to sneak a goal in to end in a 2-1 lose.'

Joe Trew, email

On the charge: Chelsea's Demba Ba (right) and Swansea's Chico chase for a loose ball

16.21: It's nearly game over at Chelsea but Vorm does well to keep out a fizzing low drive from Demba Ba.

16.18: Phil Jones is booked after a late challenge on Mikel Arteta, but moments later the champions have their first chance as Van Persie's chipped cross is headed wide by Jones.

Cesar Azpilicueta is booked for Chelsea as Swansea start to see more of the ball.

16.15: After a frantic start, the game has quietened down a touch at the Emirates Stadium - Manchester United have offered precious little in attack.

Gunners old boy: Manchester United's Robin van Persie (right) is chased down by Arsenal's Mikel Arteta

16.12: Half-chance for Swansea as Angel Rangel plays in Pablo Hernandez on the edge of the box, but the forward blasts way over the Chelsea bar.

16.09: It's all Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium as Santi Cazorla's top corner bound effort is palmed away by De Gea.

16.06: We are back underway at Chelsea.

Quick out the blocks: Theo Walcott sneaked in behind the United defence to fire Arsenal ahead

16.03: GOAL! ARSENAL 1-0 Manchester United

What a start to the game! Robin van Persie loses the ball on the halfway line and seconds later, the hosts score. Tomas Rosicky plays a through ball for Theo Walcott who gets in behind Patrice Evra before blasting past David De Gea - replays show he was offside though.

16.01: Huge boos from the home fans as Robin van Persie plays a one-touch pass. It's going to be a long afternoon for the Dutchman.

16.00: Arsenal get us going

Welcome the champions: Arsenal players greet Manchester United on the pitch

15.57: Applause from the Arsenal players in the guard of honour of course, as Manchester United make their way on to the pitch, but the fans are slightly mixed. A few boo whiles others clap - good on the latter bunch.

15.56: Out come the Arsenal team as the players stand either side of the tunnel waiting to welcome the newly crowned champions...

15.53: All going to plan for Chelsea then, who have made light work of Swansea so far. Surely another three points are heading for Stamford Bridge.

Spot on: Frank Lampard doubled Chelsea's lead from the penalty spot

15.50: Half-time: Chelsea 2-0 Swansea

15.47: GOAL! CHELSEA 2-0 Swansea

A double before the break for the Blues as Leon Britton brings down Juan Mata inside the box to concede a penalty (and pick up a booking). Frank Lampard steps up to convert his 201st goal for the club with a crisp low strike into the bottom corner - he is now just one goal short of the club record.

15.46: PENALTY (Chelsea)

Breakthrough: Oscar fired Chelsea ahead against Swansea

15.45: GOAL! CHELSEA 1-0 Swansea

Lampard has been fantastic since coming on and he tees up Oscar to blast low into the bottom corner. Pressure on Arsenal before kick-off at the Emirates Stadium then.

15.44: Swansea are still holding on at Chelsea, but only just as Lampard steals the ball from Jonathan De Guzman before forcing Michel Vorm into a decent save.

15.41: A first booking at Stamford Bridge as Swansea's Ashley Williams sees yellow for a late foul. From the free-kick Oscar crosses for David Luiz who heads wide.

On the slide: Swansea's Ashley Williams (right) attempts to beat Chelsea's David Luiz to the ball

15.38: Robin van Persie returns to face his former club as newly-crowned Barclays Premier League champions Manchester United take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

There is set to be a guard of honour from the hosts to mark United's achievements, but one-time Arsenal favourite Van Persie is set for a hot reception as passions still run high following his controversial £24million move last summer. Wayne Rooney and Nani both start in attack.

Arsenal need a win to stay ahead in the race for Champions League qualification, and look set to deploy German forward Lukas Podolski in a central striker role with 17-goal Olivier Giroud starting a three-match ban for his red card at Fulham.

England midfielder Jack Wilshere has to again be content with a place on the bench, as does captain Thomas Vermaelen.

15.35: Full line-ups from the Emirates Stadium:

Arsenal v Man Utd
Arsenal: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Arteta, Ramsey, Rosicky, Cazorla, Walcott, Podolski. Subs: Mannone, Vermaelen, Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Monreal, Jenkinson, Gervinho.

Man Utd: De Gea, Da Silva, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Jones, Nani, Rooney, van Persie. Subs: Lindegaard, Anderson, Giggs, Hernandez, Cleverley, Kagawa, Buttner.

Referee: Phil Dowd (Staffordshire)

15.32: Chelsea are applying most of the pressure against Swansea as Oscar and Demba Ba see shots blocked before the visitors clear their lines.

Talking point: Referee Mark Clattenburg addresses Chelsea skipper John Terry

15.29: It's been a quiet start at Chelsea but the Blues have been forced into a change as Ramires has had to go off injured - Frank Lampard replaces him, much to the joy of the home fans.

A poor game at the MaAdejski Stadium by the way and despite both clubs being relegated, there were very few tears shed from the crowd - they have sensed this day for a long time now.

15.26: From QPR midfielder Joey Barton:

I can't believe QPR have just been relegated and Boswinga was walking down the tunnel laughing! Embarrassing. Show some guts man...

15.23: Manchester United starting XI:

De Gea, Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Jones, Nani, Rooney, Van Persie.

All over: Reading and QPR were both relegated after a 0-0 draw

READING AND QPR ARE RELEGATED

15.20: Full-time: Reading 0-0 QPR

15.18: Reading and QPR have three additional minutes to get a goal and save their respective Premier League skins.

15.16: Juan Mata sees a free-kick blocked for Chelsea, as QPR send on Jamie Mackie for Mbia with two minutes left.

Playing the pass: Swansea's Michu plays the ball in front of Chelsea's Ramires

15.15: One goal would surely win the game at Reading now as Morrison nods over the bar for the hosts.

15.12: Arsenal starting XI:

Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Arteta, Ramsey, Rosicky, Cazorla, Walcott, Podolski.

Van Persie starts for Manchester United.

15.09: Here is more on Van Persie's faux pas earlier, as we approach the last 10 minutes at the Madejski Stadium where Le Fondre has just nodded a cross over the bar for Reading.

Challenge: QPR's Jermaine Jenas puts pressure on Reading's Danny Guthrie

15.06: From OptaJoe:

10 - 10 of Reading’s 37 league goals this season have been provided by substitutes. Impact.

15.04: A final change for Reading as Ian Harte replaces Kelly.

15.02: We are underway at Stamford Bridge as Fabio replaces Bosingwa for QPR at Reading.

Under control: Reading's Pavel Pogrebnyak brings the ball down in front of QPR's Stephane Mbia

14.59: It's not been a dirty game and we have only just picked up our first yellow card as Granero is booked for a late foul to break up a Reading counter.

14.57: Harry Redknapp is still on the edge of his technical area trying to encourage his QPR team to score. There are just 20 minutes left for one of these teams to break the deadlock and escape relegation for another day.

The players are out on the pitch at Stamford Bridge.

14.54: A first switch for QPR as Junior Hoilett replaces Taarabt in a like-for-like change.

Tension: QPR's Adel Taarabt (centre) confronts Reading's Adrian Mariappa

14.51: Reading are enjoying their best spell of the match as Pogrebnyak curls just wide of the goal, while Guthrie strikes off target from distance.

The Royals make a second change as Adam Le Fondre replaces McClearly.

14.48: John Obi Mikel is left on the substitutes' bench against Swansea as referee Mark Clattenburg takes charge of a Chelsea match for the first time since last autumn's race row involving the Nigeria midfielder.

Clattenburg was cleared of using 'inappropriate language' towards Mikel, who is not one of the four changes to the starting XI following Thursday's 2-1 win at Basle, with Juan Mata, Gary Cahill, Oscar and Demba Ba recalled in a team featuring John Terry in back-to-back matches for the first time since February.

Eden Hazard, who was banned after kicking a ball boy at the Liberty Stadium in the Capital One Cup semi-final earlier this season, also continues against a Swansea side showing two changes, with Wayne Routledge and Ki Sung-yeung starting.

Looking on: Harry Redknapp instructs his QPR team from the bench

14.45: Full line-ups from Stamford Bridge:

Chelsea v Swansea
Chelsea: Cech, Azpilicueta, Cahill, Terry, Cole, Luiz, Ramires, Oscar, Mata, Hazard, Ba. Subs: Turnbull, Ivanovic, Lampard, Torres, Mikel, Benayoun, Bertrand.

Swansea: Vorm, Rangel, Chico, Williams, Davies, Ki, Britton, Routledge, De Guzman, Hernandez, Michu. Subs: Tremmel, Taylor, Dyer, Monk, Shechter, Moore, Tiendalli.

Referee: Mark Clattenburg (Tyne & Wear)

14.42: A change for Reading as Nick Blackman is replaced by Hal Robson-Kanu, as Taarabt wastes another chance by firing off target.

14.41: Good start for Robin van Persie on his return to Arsenal...old habits die hard for the Manchester United striker as he went to go into the home side's dressing room.

At Reading, Taarabt scuffs a half volley into the ground as the hosts escape danger.

No penalty: Armand Tarore's tackle on Nick Blackman led to spot-kick appeals from the hosts

14.38: The visitors continue to have more of an attacking edge but they are really not coming close to scoring. Mbia blazes well over the bar from 25 yards, and that prompts Harry Redknapp to go and talk to Shaun Derry on the bench.

14.35: Chance for QPR from a corner but Remy heads over the bar - both sides again looking to attack.

14.32: Away we go again at the Madejski Stadium.

Off the line: QPR's Jose Bosingwa clears the ball in a goalmouth scramble

14.29: Teams are making their way back on to the pitch. Remember, both teams will be relegated if this ends in a draw. (See 12.35 for the full reason).

14.26: From InfostradaLive:

QPR have won two PL away matches this season. In their last two PL seasons (2011-12; 1995-96) they have won three in each.

14.23: The game did improve during the latter stages of the first half but we have yet to see either side create a real clear cut chance. QPR went close with Bothroyd while Pogrebnyak was denied in a six-yard box scramble. Other than those incidents - chances are at a premium.

Contest: Reading's Garath McCleary (left) and QPR's Adel Taarabt fight for the ball

14.20: A half lacking quality, and perhaps fittingly as it stands both would be relegated this afternoon.

14.17: Half-time: Reading 0-0 QPR

14.16: Just a minute to be added on as McAnuff's long distance strike is parried clear by Green.

Calling the shots: Both managers were animated on the touchline

14.14: Two penalty shouts for Reading as Blackman and Stephen Kelly both go down inside the box, but the award of spot-kicks would have been very harsh on QPR. At the other end, Traore's low fizzing cross is well cleared by the hosts.

14.11: Chelsea starting XI:

Cech, Azpilicueta, Terry, Cahill, Cole, Ramires, Luiz, Oscar, Mata, Hazard, Ba.

Swansea starting XI:

Vorm, Rangel, Flores, Williams, Davies, Britton, Ki, De Guzman, Routledge, Michu, Hernandez.

14.08: Reading go closest to opening the scoring in the scrappiest fashion. A cross to the far post is nodded back across goal, where Pogrebnyak's bundled effort is saved by Green before Bosingwa clears off the line.

Going close: Jay Bothroyd (centre) lifted a shot wide of the post for QPR

14.05: Taarabt curls an effort just wide for QPR who continue to tease the Reading goal but McCarthy's gloves remain redundant.

14.02: From OptaJoe:

39 per cent - Reading are the only team to average less than 40 per cent possession in the Barclays Premier League this season. Camped.

13.59: This game really doesn't feel like a 'loser goes down contest.' The crowd is very flat and their is very little urgency from the teams...that excludes Jobi McAnuff, who busts a lung trying to chase down Rob Green in the QPR goal, much to the approval of the home fans.

Story of their season: QPR fans vent their feelings at the Madejski Stadium

13.56: From InfostradaLive:

There have been 25 first-half goals in the PL at the Madejski Stadium this season. There has only been more scored at Old Trafford and the DW Stadium (both 28).

A matter of time then, or just damn lies and statistics?

13.53: A first attack in a while for Reading as they win a free-kick on the very corner of the penalty box, but the delivery hits the top of the QPR wall and the visitors clear.

13.50: Chance for QPR! Jay Bothroyd lifts the ball over an advancing McCarthy on the edge of the box, but the ball just bounces wide of the post. A Reading defender looked like he had it covered though as he chased back.

13.49: QPR continue to edge this encounter, even if McCarthy still hasn't had a save to make. This time, Stephane Mbia crosses into the box for Remy but again it's just too far in front of the striker.

Top brass: QPR owner Tony Fernandes (left) speaks to Reading chairman Sir John Madejski, who is celebrating his 72nd birthday

13.46: Good stuff from QPR now as Taarabt's chipped through ball for Loic Remy has just too much power on it as Reading keeper Alex McCarthy collects.

13.43: It's over the bar again for QPR but this was mighty close to opening the scoring! Jem Karacan brought down Adel Tarrabet on the edge of the box, with Esteban Granero's free-kick shaving the crossbar as it glided over the top corner.

13.40: QPR now go on the attack but they too fire way over the bar with their first effort courtesy of Jermaine Jenas.

Battle for the ball: Reading's Danny Guthrie (left) vies for the ball with QPR's Armand Traore

13.38: Pavel Pogrebnyak gives away a free-kick after raising a high foot to Nedum Onuhoa's face, but the Russian striker clearly tried to play the ball so no further action is taken.

13.35: Cracking free-kick from Reading's Danny Guthrie, whose out-swinging free-kick into the six-yard box evades everyone with Sean Morrison just missing out with a slide at the far post.

13.34: An encouraging start with both teams keen to attack. Jose Bosingwa gives the ball straight to Nick Blackman, but after running at the defence, the Reading forward blasts a shot way over the crossbar.

13.31: Reading get us going.

Looking bleak: QPR boss Harry Redknapp reacts at the Madejski Stadium

13.30: From QPR's on loan midfielder, Andros Townsend:

'Watching the qpr vs reading game with an ice pack on my hamstring #coneonlads #qpr'

13.27: Out come the players on to the pitch, there are still a few empty seats around the ground. The fans may not believe their teams can stay up but hopefully that means the pressure is off and we can see two sides playing without caution this afternoon.

13.24: The players are in the tunnel, QPR in their change strip of red this afternoon.

13.19: Reading looked in good shape to stay up at the start of February but nine defeats from 10 games in all competitions has completely decimated their chances of booking successive seasons in the top flight - it's a run that has included the sacking of Brian McDermott as manager.

13.14: The players are warming up at the Madejski Stadium in front of a slowly filling up crowd. The winners would be given a brief stay of execution but make no mistake, not even the most optimistic of supporters expect either of these to stay up come May.

Included: Esteban Granero is recalled to the QPR side

13.09: Full line-ups from the Madejski Stadium:

Reading v QPR
Reading: McCarthy, Gunter, Mariappa, Morrison, Kelly, McCleary, Karacan, Guthrie, McAnuff, Pogrebnyak, Blackman. Subs: Taylor, Pearce, Le Fondre, Hunt, Robson-Kanu, Harte, Carrico.

QPR: Green, Bosingwa, Hill, Onuoha, Traore, Jenas, Granero, Mbia, Taarabt, Remy, Bothroyd. Subs: Julio Cesar, Derry, Park, Mackie, Da Silva, Ben Haim, Hoilett.

Referee: Kevin Friend (Leicestershire)

13.04: QPR manager Harry Redknapp makes five changes to his side for their bottom-of-the-table clash at Reading.

Armand Traore, Nedum Onuoha, Jermaine Jenas, Esteban Granero and Jay Bothroyd all come in while Christopher Samba misses out on the squad altogether.

Reading remain unchanged from the side that lost 2-1 at Norwich. Defeat for either side would condemn the losers to the npower Championship, while a draw would consign both to the drop today.

Even victory may only provide a temporary reprieve, with a victory for Aston Villa over Sunderland tomorrow night condemning today's Madejski Stadium victors to relegation as well.

12.59: Some essential reading with just over 30 minutes until kick-off as Mail on Sunday's Gary Neville speaks on how Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United team will look to replicate the German thrillers after mid-week's extraordinary Champions League action.

12.56: From OptaJoe:

100 - Reading have hit 100 shots on target this season, fewer than any other team in the Premier League. Shy.

12.53: But will Van Persie even start against Arsenal this afternoon? In theory he should, there's a Premier League rule somewhere regarding not fielding your strongest possible line-up - just ask Mick McCarthy and Wolves about that.

12.50: And of course that guard of honour will coincide with Robin van Persie's first return to the Emirates Stadium since leaving for Manchester United in a £24m deal last summer.

Gunners defender Per Mertesacker spoke to Mail On Sunday's Rob Draper on how the striker's departure hurt the team.

Missing out: Chris Samba is dropped from the QPR squad

12.47: Of course it isn't just winner survives (for a day or two at least) at the Madejski Stadium. We have a couple of crackers today as Chelsea host Swansea at 3pm and Arsenal give Manchester United a guard of honour an hour later - so stick around for what should be an entertaining afternoon.

12.44: From OptaJoe:

5 - There have been five red cards in the last five league meetings between Queens Park Rangers and Reading. Pressure.

12.41: Reading starting XI:

McCarthy, Gunter, Kelly, Mariappa, Morrison, Karacan, Guthrie, McCleary, McAnuff, Blackman, Pogrebnyak.

12.38: QPR starting XI:

Green, Bosingwa, Onuoha, Hill, Traore, Granero, Jenas, Mbia, Taarabt, Remy, Bothroyd.

12.35: With 18th placed Wigan still to play 17th placed Aston Villa - one of those teams is guaranteed to get 35 points. A draw today would mean QPR and Reading could only get 34 and is the reason why both could go down this afternoon.

12.30: For weeks it has seemed a formality that QPR and Reading will be relegated, but today it can become official.

It's often a mis-used phrase with no real consequence, but today really is a must-win game as at least one of these sides will have their Championship status for next season rubber stamped this afternoon - it may be both. Team news on the way.

On the brink: QPR or Reading could be relegated at the Madejski Stadium
