Coma request Bob Seger, For 79-year-old Evie Branan, a harrowing medical ordeal has ended with her dreams coming true. Having awakened from a five-year coma on May 7, 2011, Evie shocked her care-givers when uttering her first word, requesting, “I want to go to a Bob Seger concert.” Two years later, her request is being fulfilled.
This evening (April 11), Evie will finally be treated to that Bob Seger concert when he takes the stage on his “Rock And Roll Never Forgets” tour in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and it all came together thanks to some special planning from her nursing home administrator, Michelle Cross, and Seger’s management company, Punch Enterprises.
Not only does Evie have tickets to the show, but she and her caregiver, Jennifer Hickey, will be given VIP treatment from Punch Enterprises, who will escort them to and from the show in a limo, plus take them to a post-concert party where Seger and his Silver Bullet Band will join them for dinner.
“(Her story) was definitely nothing I had heard before,” Ann Tenbrusch, Punch Enterprises’ executive assistant told Michigan news site MLive. “I always want to try to help out with stories like that because Bob loves his fans. It’s such a cool story I just wanted to help out in any way I could.”
This isn’t Evie’s first time seeing her music idol, either. The lively 79-year-old has previously seen Bob Seger in concert four other times long before suffering a stroke that caused her coma at 72.
To help enhance her concert experience, Evie has received two new hearing aids so she can sing and dance along to her favorite songs. With all that she’s been through, Evie is grateful that she’s been given another opportunity to see her favorite artist in concert.
“I’m so excited I can hardly breathe,” she said. “What am I looking forward to the most? Hugging Bob Seger and giving him a big smooch.”
