Jennifer Capriati charged, Singer Island resident and former tennis star Jennifer Capriati has been formally charged in connection with an incident involving her ex-boyfriend, WPBF 25 News has learned.
Former WNBA player and Olympic gold medalist Chamique Holdsclaw is being indicted on charges stemming from an incident in Nov. 2012 in which Holdsclaw shot at a vehicle being driven by ex-girlfriend and former Tulsa Shock player, Jennifer Lacy. WPBF reported this month that Capriati, 36, was accused of attacking ex-boyfriend Ivan Brannan in January.
Thursday, Capriati was charged with battery and stalking. She has a court date scheduled for April 17 in Palm Beach Gardens.
Brannan alleged that his ex-girlfriend confronted him at Oxygen Health and Fitness Gym in the 11000 block of U.S. Highway 1 in North Palm Beach on Valentine's Day.
He also said Capriati called him dozens of times while he was at work one day in January, even showing up there later and banging on windows.
Through her representatives, Capriati this month denied any wrongdoing.
Capriati burst onto the tennis scene at age 14, more than 20 years ago, and won 14 titles, including three Grand Slams, as well as a gold medal at the 1992 Olympics.
She had some off-court troubles while still in the prime of her career, but shook them off and returned to the sport at the top of her game, claiming the Australian Open and French Open crowns in 2001.
