Forget about battling it out for chart supremacy, it was all
about who had the best body in rock as both Dave Grohl and Anthony
Kiedis flashed their physiques in Hawaii on Monday.
Despite having a few years on his fellow rocker, Anthony came out on top as he showed off his muscular stomach at the beach.
The Red Hot Chilli Peppers frontman has clearly been hitting the gym - and on Monday the waves too - as, wearing just a pair of boardshorts, the 50-year-old's defined obliques and pecks were very evident.
The Foo Fighters lead singer may have been indulging a little but too much recently as the shirtless singer revealed a prominent potbelly as he enjoyed a beach day with his daughter, Violet.
While Anthony is still living the rocker lifestyle having been spotted with a bevvy of beautiful woman recently, Dave is happily a family man.
As a key member of not one but two of the world's most successful bands - as drummer for Nirvana and lead singer and guitar for the Foo Fighters - the 44-year-old has no doubt had his fair share of partying and lovely ladies surrounding him, but on Monday the star was content just to be a middle aged father.
While his tattoos hinted to his famous rock and roll status, Dave tried to be just dad as he took Violet to go explore by the pool at their hotel.
Wearing his signature long locks tied back and wearing a hat and glasses, many would have not even realised who he was.
Clearly enjoying spending time with his little girl - Dave also has a second younger daughter Harper with his wife Jordyn Blum - Dave struggled to keep up with the six-year-old as she trotted along the side of the pool.
No doubt the holiday is a welcome break for the 44-year-old who has been busy with a number of projects of late.
The singer has been helping out with hosting duties on Chelsea Lately as well as releasing his directorial debut documentary Sound City - about the famous Los Angeles, California, studio - and fronting new super group the Sound City Players which has seen the rocker collaborated with Slipknot's Corey Taylor, Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor, Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age, Rick Nielsen from Cheap Trick, Stevie Nick and even Paul McCartney.
In an interview with this months NMEmagazine Grohl slammed the recent plethora of talent shows - and made fun of Christina Aguilera in the process.
He told the music magazine in a cruse word ridden interview: 'I think people should feel encouraged to be themselves.
'That's what bums me out about those shows where people are judged so harshly by f**king musicians that hardly even play an instrument on their own f**king albums. It makes me really mad.
'Everyone sounds like f**king Christina Aguilera.
'I swear to God, if my daughter walked up onstage and sang her heart out and some f**king billionaire looked at her and said, ''No, I'm sorry you're not any good,'' I'd fucking throttle that person, I swear to God. Who the f**k are you to say what's good or bad?'
