Dave Chappelle is reportedly giving some major consideration to doing a new comedy tour with comedian Chris Rock according to Inquistr reports on Friday, March 15.
It has been about eight year since Dave Chappelle left his hugely popular hit comedy "Chappelle's Show," during the third season. Since then, the comedian has made some headlines being described as a bit of a reclusive, living a low key life in Ohio.
Dave Chappelle has done a few comedy shows, usually unpublicized, and even gives interviews when the mood strikes him. It’s probably more accurate to compare Chappelle to Bill Murray, another next-level comedy guy whose life appears to be one big “Do What You Feel” festival.
Speculation began this week following The Los Angeles Times report that Dave Chappelle is seriously considering going on a comedy tour with Chris Rock, which all started when Chappelle made a surprise stop at the New York City's Comedy Cellar and came from "Grown Ups 2" co-star Chris Rock, who said about Chappelle, he “should come down to Palm Beach,” to which Chappelle allegedly replied “after next Tuesday, I’m free for like 11 years.”
Chris Rock is all gun ho for the event according to witnesses, Rock appeared to be taking the discussion seriously and proposing fall dates for the show, and the paper says the pair texted Jay-Z from the stage and left messages for Arsenio Hall. Chappelle is quoted as reportedly saying:
“This could be the show … Fireside chats with Chris Rock.”
When asked about the possibility of the Rock/Chappelle tour, Chappelle’s rep said simply: “I can’t even say.” Which isn’t a no. As the Times points out, the fact that Chappelle did three nights at the Cellar could indicate that he’s looking to stage a larger return.
So far there has been no confirmation, and reps for Dave Chappelle have declined to comment on the speculation.
